Japan’s JARL dates from 1926, and for decades Japan had more licensed amateurs than any other country on Earth — at its peak well over a million. Japanese manufacturers (Yaesu, Icom, Kenwood) equip most of the world’s shacks, including half of mine. A JA contact from Moscow on QRP means beating 7,500 km of Siberia; it is firmly on my wish list.
