Latvia answers with YL — a prefix every telegraphist smiles at, because in ham slang "YL" means "young lady". Riga was a major electronics centre of the Soviet era (the VEF factory radios sat in half the country’s kitchens), and that engineering culture still shows in the Latvian amateur community.
